Debunking the Most Common Blogging Myths That Exist Today

You may have heard that blogging is dead.

But have you realized that everywhere you look (and most likely how you got to this), is a blog? In fact, you’re reading a blog right now. There are over 600 million blogs on the Internet.

So, for starters, blogging is not dead. But what else have you heard about blogging that isn’t true?

Keep reading to learn more about the most common blogging myths as we debunk them for you!

Posts Should Never Be Over 500 Words

You may have heard that blog posts need to be short to keep the attention of any reader. However, that’s far from the truth.

Every blog is different. A blog about how to brush your teeth is more than likely going to be shorter than a blog about the 20 best gifts for mom this holiday season.

Also, having more in-depth blog posts can actually boost your search rankings.

If You Aren’t a Writer, You Can’t Blog

Not everyone can fit into one compartment.

You may be a coder but can still blog. You may be a stay-at-home mom, but you can still blog. In fact, most blogs are created by those who are business owners (and most likely not writers).

And lucky for you, there are many resources out there that can help you become a better writer to improve your blog posts. Check out this guide from iWriter for more tips.

You Must Post Every Day

This is not very doable for a lot of reasons. First of all, if you are a business owner, you have many things to do and many hats to wear – blogging is just one of them. You may also want to go out and do something fun on the weekends.

For those two reasons alone, posting every day is almost impossible! So don’t stress yourself out about this because it is not necessary.

You should aim to blog about three times a week. If you are just starting out, stay consistent with one per week until you can grow this to be even more!

One of the most important parts of blogging is consistency, not the actual number of times you post.

Writing a Post Will Take Hours

This is simply not true, especially because different blog posts will be different lengths.

If you have a blog post that is 250 words, you may be able to whip that out in under 30 minutes. 500 words? That could take you 40 minutes!

The more you write and practice, the faster you will get at blogging.
