Shinya Kogami is the anime series Psycho-anti-hero Pass’s protagonist. He is the main protagonist of Season 1, the deuteragonist of the 2015 film, and the main protagonist of Sinners of the System Case in 2019. 3: On the Other Side of Love and Hate, as well as appearing in a couple of Season 2 episodes. In Season 3, he returns as a supporting character. In the Japanese version of the anime, he is voiced by Tomokazu Seki, and in the English version, he is voiced by Robert McCollum.
Shinya Kogami Appearance
Kogami is tall and muscular, with grey eyes, short black hair that is tousled, and pale skin. He typically dresses in a black suit and tie when acting as an Inspector or Enforcer. Kogami sports a grey coat over his suit when he’s out in the field. He is exactly the same height as Shogo Makishima, standing 180 cm tall. He’s dressed in combat boots, an armoured vest, and an olive-colored shirt and pants in the year 2116. He also carries a conventional gun in a holster that is light brown.
Shinya Kogami Personality
Shinya Kogami is an expert detective who, as a result of earlier incidents, serves as an Enforcer for the MWPSB. He is assigned to Unit One, where his former best friend, Nobuchika Ginoza, is in charge, and is a valuable asset thanks to his quick problem-solving skills. No matter the circumstance, Kogami always maintains composure while working, never allowing his feelings to influence his decisions. Even the best Enforcers are amazed and horrified by the way he handles investigations because he frequently employs risky techniques to find solutions. Kougami has a sense of humour despite being primarily serious and finds it amusing to tease rookie Inspector Akane Tsunemori, particularly in light of the fact that she once shot him with a Dominator.
When Kogami was still an Inspector three years ago, he grew close to his Enforcers, one of whom was Sasayama. Kogami’s emotional attachment and the ensuing feelings when Sasayama died a terrible death while performing his job caused his Coefficient to rise and his downgrading to Enforcer. It is revealed that Kogami has some wild tendencies that Sasayama may have encouraged.
Personal Background
Tomoyo Kogami and her unnamed husband give birth to Kogami in Kanagawa. He meets Ginoza in high school and they become close friends after Kogami saves Ginoza from bullies. While there, he majors in social science and pursues kickboxing and wrestling as hobbies, which is unusual because students only study these arts to relieve stress. When Ginoza tells Kogami about his future plans to become an Inspector, Kogami decides to follow in his footsteps, graduating first in his class and scoring 721 points on the entry exam. He later joins Ginoza’s team as an Inspector in Division 03.
Three years before Tsunemori joins the Public Safety Bureau, Kogami is transferred to Division 01 and tasked with supervising his own Enforcers, one of whom is Mitsuru Sasayama. Despite being warned to keep their distance, Kogami and Sasayama become friends.
